Glacier Bay's Bear Track Inn

Nestled on the edge of a vast wilderness, secluded, yet accessible by commuter planes and Alaska airlines. The majestic Bear Track Inn is a 14-guest room log style inn, constructed with 287 hand-hewn logs on 97 acres. Walk through the 8 foot handcrafted door into the lobby with a 30 foot vaulted ceiling, a huge walk around wood burning fireplace, and comfortable overstuffed suede sofas and chairs. Guests are often treated to visits of moose, bears and other wildlife through the three stories of windows facing the mountains and Icy Strait.

With a choice of 14 rooms including two that are handicap accessible, the grand experience continues when you check into your room. With almost three hundred square feet of space, each room has two queen-sized beds with soft sheets, plush down comforters and soft down pillows and a large well-appointed bath.

Grand choices continue when you visit the dining room. Imagine walking into the dining room, and after being greeted by our hostess, you sit at hand crafted tables to choose your meal. Prepare for a feast. Choose from a menu that can include fresh Alaskan salmon, Alaskan Spotted Prawns, Excursion Halibut, Dungeness Crab, buffalo, caribou, steak, or even vegetarian plates with ingredients grown on the property. Included with these can be seafood soups, homemade breads, and salads with freshly made dressings. The locally brewed beers and the extensive wine list, are designed to complement the entrees. With your senses nearly overwhelmed, you finish with a choice of dazzling fresh desserts."

Breakfast greets you with a new feast. Tempted by all, you choose from waffles, eggs and omelets made to order along with fresh pastries topped with fresh Alaskan jams, jellies and berries.

Activities can be booked for a glacier trip, whale watching, kayaking with whales, bear viewing, Skagway train trip, Hoonah trip with world's longest zipline, flight seeing, guided and unguided kayaking, golfing, hiking, biking and more. You tell us what you want and we will make it happen.

The Bear Track Inn while it is an amazing Alaskan fishing lodge, it also has plenty more to offer! Go back in time on one of our glacier tours. Choose your own vessel for a whale watching adventure, a 23 passenger vessel, a six passenger touring vessel, or on a one or two person kayak. You can hike into Glacier Bay National Park and see seldom viewed waterfalls, bears, moose, or wolves. Not satisfied yet? Many custom tours including bear watching, excursions to Skagway for a ride on the historic White Pass and Yukon Route Railroad, and golfing packages can fit into your itinerary...again the choice is yours!
