I have used many different reels for these fish, and Shimano has been very reliable for Saltwater fishing in Alaska. I believe if your going to have the best fishing trip of your life with Black Rock Charters, then you need to be fishing with the best gear possible. Shimano TLD-20 reels are used for Halibut Fishing, while Shimano Levelwind reels are great for our hard fighting Salmon.  |

Halibut and Salmon Fishing Rods
| Lightweight 12-25# Fenwick Saltstick rods are used for Salmon fishing to provide lots of action and a great feel to your catch. G-Loomis 40-60# fiberglass rods for Halibut and Ling cod provide a good light action yet still have the backbone to haul in a 300 LB plus Halibut. Spinning rods are also available on the boats if you feel like casting for a passing Salmon or plentiful Dolly Varden that hug the near shoreline. If you like, bring along your favorite rod & reel. |
